Minutely - JPEG ImagesClicking M in the Media Section of control panel will select only single jpg images. The size of all the jpgs lies between 30-70K due to the nature of the camera the light, etc. Most will be in the 40-60K range. Currently there are two things you might see: If the JPEG exists it will be shown to you in the AntCam as seen above. If the JPEG is not available you will see the image above. Clicking on it will explain the various reasons why the image may not be available. Similiarly when No MPEG exists.

Hourly or Daily - MPEG filesClicking on H or D in the control panel will select the Hourly/Daily MPEGS. The size of the Hourly/Daily MPEGs are 300KB/500KB respectively. Selecting the MPEGs is a nice way to view a time lapse of the action for the hour or the Day. Currently there are three things you might see: If the MPEG movie and the first JPG of the sequence exists you download the MPEG by clicking on the image. The MPEG movie exists but the first JPG in the sequence does not. Clicking on the image will download the MPEG file.

A Final Comment: One thing I have noticed is that many people don't bother checking out previous images much less previous MPEGs. It seems rather a waste to store over 200,000 past images and 3,000 past mpegs if no-one is even going to peek at them.. Feel free to Manually Enter a previous date from 1998.6.8 through Now and then step forward through images/mpegs by the day, hour or minute. Eventually when I have time the Journal will be a better way to do this. It will point you toward important or interesting historical moments of the colony(s) along with my notes.
