What this page covers is the development of the species subdirectory of this site. The Goal of this section is to provide a section that allows people to view pictures of the development stages of different ant species, for the purposes of education, and ant identification. Within it are the following files
index.html - The pages where one accesses the Species Image archive - currently a single page
sinfo.html - Standard Complete Sponsor List page
ssinfo.html - Standard Sponsor Availability Page - I'm beginning to add these throught the site to log my work.
Also there are subdirectories (j, s, i) which have the tiny(j), small(modified), i(origional) images.
First I reorganized this directory to create actual subdirectories as well as the structure of the pages. Hence the menu had to be changed as well as modifications to the site html list for menu propigation with the perl scripts I wrote a while ago to facilitate the development of a non-frame friendly site. Then I had to locate the images and begin page design and development. At least as a first shot I kinda of like how these pages came out. Locating the images to crop from, etc. isn't easy and reconfirming the need to generate an internal cam log of images on a weekly basis so I can identify candidate images easily as well as design periodic imaging regimens to facilitate collection of good images for this project.

Long Term
I definately wish to fill out the pages. Things I need. Nice microscope with 35mm camera attachment to do close up photography. As well as a decent lens for outdoor photography of nesting sites, Outside colony observations, etc. Eventually I will construct a data base of images here. It would also be nice to be able to include movies of events. As to some actual cost estimates. I put numbers here but they will be modified as I get time and some real ideas of what pieces of equipment I'm going to need for this project. For now people will have to be satisfied with quality of images from the indycam and the Canon L1. I think as a first shot a coolpix 950 with a large set of flash cards would be a nice acquisition and what I base price on.
Right now I'm just going to try to fill these pages out with as many images as I can of as many different species that I have.
