Our Goals for Sponsorship
  • To enable anyone to become a sponsor.
  • Benefits should be in direct proportion to level of sponsorship.
  • To allow sponsors to target their sponsorships to portions of the site they feel are important to them.
  • To allow sponsors to encourage development of specific portions of site.
  • To keep the site freely available
  • To work in a commercial vs. non-profit mode - with the goal of providing not-for profit type services/information within a commercial model.
  • Finally to provide a voluntary mechanism whereby entities may support the development, maintenance, and growth of this site for the benefit of everyone.
How sponsorship works
  • This site will be divided into Sponsor Sections following pretty much the menu bar sections on the left.
  • Each of these Sections will have the following attributes:

    1. All actual content pages in that section will have at a link to a Section Sponsor's Page titled Other Sponsors on the page.
    2. There will also be a link to a page titled Sponsorship Availability Info which will provide information to current and new sponsors relating to what we call One-Time and Recurring costs of the pages in that section.

  • Benefits depend on the type and level of Sponsorship.

    1. One-Time
      • $5 - This is the minimum to get listed on a Section's Complete Sponsor List page
      • 1/3 or greater of either the current sections contributed total or current actual listed costs total whichever is greater. In this case an actual text listing as above CompanyA is given as long as the one-time total stays above the 1/3 level for that section.

    2. Recurring
      • $50/month is the minimum monthly amount to give a Contributing sponsor access to the banner ad space for that section (these sponsors are called Banner Qualified Contributing Sponsors (BQCS)). Here is the Formula for calculating the percentage of views a BQCS's banner ad receives is.

    3. Purchasing or Contributing
      • The issue here is to make a distinction between the benefits of purchasing vs. Contributing Sponsors. Purchasing sponsors are ones that are actually receiveing a product of some sort from the antcam site and hence by themselves should recieve none of the benefits of being a contributing sponsor. But since purchasing sponsors are effectively paying for portions of the antcam their dollars should apply to the sections of the site they are paying for hence claiming a part of the available or current sponsorship totals that would be used to determine an existing or new BQCS's percentage of the available banner ad space.

The idea is to encourage purchasing sponsors to also become a BQCS since they then effectively leverage their life-time contributions and purchasing contributions into BCQS status for as long as they remain a BQCS. Included in this is the idea that all dollars being received from AntCam Products should be applied to the costs of that section of the site but not the others.

  • Final Comments

    1. Contributions of materials may also be offered but regardless they must have a reasonable dollar amount associated to them.
    2. May seem Complicated?! Choices for One Time sponsors are rather simple whereas for Recurring ones somewhat more complicated
    3. How One-Time & Recurring costs are determined appear to be arbritrarily determined. While this may appear to be true it is not in the interest of this sites maintainer to generate arbitray numbers. All costs beyond actual cash outlays are determined at a rate of $50/hr and in most cases hours are generally underestimated vs. overestimated. As this is a rough mimimum of the prices web design professionals currently quote we feel this fixed hourly rate as an unpaid investment is reasonable.
